Veggie burger in a bun served with chips and peas

Why we chose this dish

Our Pupil’s Choice

"The veggie burger is amazing and the roll is tasty' Hunter, Ysgol Panteg

Our Dietitian’s Choice

"We are always listening to our pupils. And they have informed us that they would like to be able to opt in/opt out for a vegetarian alternative on a day-by-day basis, whilst not necessarily signing up to a 100% vegetarian menu.

Made with potatoes, carrots, beans, red peppers, and cauliflower, this veggie alternative is packed full of both flavour and goodness, and as such is low in saturated fat. Our chips are, of course, oven baked to limit fat and saturated fat intake and only served on Fridays. And our rolls, made with white flour (all of which is fortified with iron in the UK) is a good choice of traditional accompaniment. Pupils are encouraged to further participate in increasing their veg consumption, here with peas contributing to their 5 a day along with being a good source of iron."
