Our Dietitian’s Choice
"We are always listening to our pupils. And they have informed us that they would like to be able to opt in/opt out for a vegetarian alternative on a day-by-day basis, whilst not necessarily signing up to a 100% vegetarian menu. Made with cheddar, potatoes, onions and leeks, this vegetarian option, available to all, is a healthy alternative to a traditional sausage which is a processed meat product, of which we are being advised to reduce the frequency in our diets. Our chips are, of course, oven baked to limit fat and saturated fat intake. Our finger rolls, made with white flour (all of which is fortified with iron in the UK) is a good choice of traditional accompaniment. Pupils are encouraged to participate in increasing their veg consumption, again with a choice of two veg options served alongside.”
Sustainable School Meals
More Welsh Produce on Our Menus - Our bread rolls are Welsh produced, so supporting our local economy and jobs whilst reducing food miles.
Reduced carbon emissions - All our menu choices have had their carbon intensities calculated by Edinburgh University. Choosing Glamorgan sausages instead of pork sausages lowers the carbon footprint of the meal by around 75%. A great choice for those looking to make small changes towards a more sustainable future
