Chocolate artic roll

Chocolate artic roll and fruit

Why we chose this dish

Our Pupil’s Choice

"Amazing!" Arlo, Our Lady’s Primary

Our Dietitian’s Choice

"Whilst ice cream itself contains negligible amounts of iron, by upgrading to Arctic roll (ice cream and sponge outer layer), we increase this dessert's contribution to iron, zinc and calcium. And with a portion of fruit counting as one of your child’s 5 a day, what is not to like?

Concerned about the chocolate aspect? Chocolate flavour desserts are a firm favourite with pupils but, rest assured, we do not use chocolate or confectionary in our desserts, instead we use cocoa powder to give the rich chocolatey taste that our pupils love.

Concerned about calories, fat or sugar? I personally undertake nutritional analysis of our primary menus prior to publishing to ensure that they meet Welsh Government Standards for school lunches. This means that they contain on average around a third of pupils’ daily nutrient requirements. This includes meeting standards for maximum calories, fat, saturated fat and sugar."

Sustainable School Meals

Increased recycling, reduced single use plastic - The days of us ordering our ice cream in single use plastic tubs is long gone. Here, this arctic roll is packaged in cardboard and recycled of course along with a variety of other packaging.
