Quorn nuggets (Ve) served with herby diced potatoes, peas, bread and spread
Why we chose this dish
Our Dietitian’s Choice
"These meat-free nuggets are made from micro-protein, a naturally close relative of mushrooms. Low in saturated fat and a source of protein and fibre, they are a firm favourite with our pupils, who often cannot tell the difference between these and the other tried and tested favourite of chicken nuggets. Our oven baked herby diced potatoes provide a tasty starchy carb accompaniment for slow-release energy throughout the afternoon. And, as always, pupils are encouraged to participate in increasing their consumption of vegetables, here with peas, a popular choice that are also a good source of iron."
Sustainable School Meals
Reducing the Service’s carbon emissions - All our recipes have had their carbon intensities calculated by Edinburgh University. The carbon footprint of this meal is 38% lower than the chicken goujons option. In addition, these quorn nuggets are produced using 83% less water that chicken nuggets (Carbon Trust Comparison Report 2022).
More Welsh Produce on our Menus - We only use Welsh produced sliced bread on our menus and at breakfast clubs, so supporting our local economy and jobs whilst reducing food miles.
