Jumbo fish finger sub with chips and side salad

Jumbo fish finger sub with chips and side salad

Why we chose this dish

Our Dietitian’s Choice

"Fish is a high protein, low fat food, and a good source of vitamins and minerals. For this reason, we are recommended to eat 2 portions of fish every week. School lunches help our pupils to meet this target by including fish on every week’s menu. Our fish fingers are breaded, not battered, and, along with our chips (Friday’s only!) are oven baked on site to limit fat and saturated fat intake. Side salad is served to make it easier to meet those 5 a Day targets. In addition, as part of our commitments to our environmental responsibilities, we only use fish that is MSC certified, so allowing pupils to tuck in knowing that they are helping protect our oceans, livelihoods and fish stock of the future."

Are you a primary pupil trying this new dish for the first time?

Feedback filtering through suggests this giant fish finger is so big it may be escaping either side of the bread roll ... let us know your thoughts on whether you want this to remain on future menus by emailing louise.gillam@torfaen.gov.uk
