Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the Sensory and Communication Support Service which is a regional specialist team working across four local authorities, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire and Torfaen in South East Wales.  You would work within the Hearing Impairment Team as a Teacher of the Deaf with children and young people from 0-25 years. You will contribute to positive learner outcomes across progress, attainment and wellbeing by assisting schools to develop their capacity to meet the needs of learners with a hearing loss, including those with multiple disabilities.

You will work within a team of Qualified Teachers for Hearing Impairment and Specialist Teaching Assistants.  

You will have a high level of expert knowledge in teaching and learning and have a track record of improving outcomes for a wide range of children and young people. If not already qualified as a Teacher of the Deaf you would be expected to gain this mandatory qualification within three years of taking up the post.  You will also have a track record of improving outcomes for a wide range of children and young people.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable and applications in Welsh or English will be welcomed.

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent - Essential
  • Degree level education - Essential  
  • Mandatory post graduate qualification in hearing impairment (HI) - Desirable
