Torfaen County Borough Council jobs are advertised on our website and can be applied for online only. If you need help to complete your online application form, our Employability Team are available to support you, please call the team on 01633 647822. The Employability Team are here to support all aspects of employment, they will be able to help you submit your online application form and support you in finding a job.

To apply online, you will need to register and create an online account. If you are already registered, please log in using your username and password. If you are a Torfaen employee, please apply internally using iFOR Employee Self Service.

Job Description and Person Specification

We recommend you read the Job Description and Person Specification carefully.  It is essential that you provide evidence that you meet the essential criteria as outlined in the person specification.  Only candidates who meet the essential criteria will be considered for shortlisting.

Online Applications

The online application form is the first stage in the recruitment process where managers will see if your skills and attributes are suitable for the role. It is important that you complete all stages of the application form as fully as possible.

Employment Details

Please provide details of your complete employment history, starting with your current employment. Please provide brief details about the job role, including knowledge or skills that will help with your application.

Relevant Qualifications, Training and Memberships

Please list relevant qualifications and training that you have undertaken, and / or any professional accreditation achieved. Proof of qualifications, training, professional body membership and other role prerequisites will required from the successful candidate.

References

External candidates 

External candidates will need to provide details of two referees. These should include a referee from your current employment where possible. If you are currently unemployed, please provide details of your most recent employer.

Internal candidates

Internal candidates should provide one referee. Please give details of your current manager who will be asked to provide a work reference.

Referees will only be contacted if candidates are successful at interview. Please note that family members, friends or neighbours will not be accepted as referees.

Supporting Statement

Please ensure you give as much detail as possible in your statement, it is important to highlight your knowledge, skills and experience to meet the essential criteria outlined in the Person Specification and show that you are able to fulfil the duties of the role.  Your application can only be considered for shortlisting if you meet the essential criteria.

We welcome applications under the Positive about Disabled People Scheme and will guarantee an interview to a person with disabilities if they satisfy the essential criteria for the post.

Next Steps

Following your application submission you will receive an email confirmation that we have received your application successfully.  Your application will automatically be sent to the recruiting manager and considered for selection after the closing date.

If your application is shortlisted, the recruiting manager will email to invite you to interview with details of what will be required of you and information about the date, time and location.
