School Admissions - Primary

Overview

There are 17 English medium, four Welsh medium and five faith-based schools within Torfaen managed by the council.

Governing Bodies of Voluntary Aided schools within Torfaen have responsibility for their own admission arrangements and application forms must be requested directly from the school and returned to the school of your choice.

Eligibility

Children normally start primary school at the start of the school year in which their fifth birthday falls (i.e. 1 September to 31 August inclusive).

Apply – September 2025 admissions

• Online applications will go live on Wednesday 6 November 2024 (9.00am)
• Closing date for applications - Thursday 9 January 2025 (5pm)
• Decision date – Wednesday 16 April 2025

Late 2024 admissions

To make a late Reception application for September 2024 please download and complete the Primary School Admission Form and return it to school.admissions@torfaen.gov.uk
