School Admissions - Primary Schools

Children normally start primary school at the start of the school year in which their fifth birthday falls (i.e. 1 September to 31 August inclusive).

September 2024 admissions

The closing date for 2024 September primary school admissions has now passed, however you can still submit a late application.

The Primary School Admission Form can be downloaded and returned to us via email at school.admissions@torfaen.gov.uk or post to School Admissions Team, Civic Centre, Pontypool, NP4 6YB.

Any application forms received after the closing date of the 9th January 2024 at 12 noon, will be classed as a late application and will be considered on a monthly basis in line with the Admissions Policy.

Offer of places

The offer of places date is Tuesday 16th April 2024 (or next working day) . You will be informed of the outcome of your application via your chosen method of notification.

If you are not a Torfaen resident, you will be required to contact your Home Authority to seek advice on how to apply.

If however you wish for your child to attend a Voluntary Aided School, you will need to contact the school direct for the necessary admission arrangements.
