School Admissions - Primary Schools

Children normally start primary school at the start of the school year in which their fifth birthday falls (i.e. 1 September to 31 August inclusive).

If you are a Torfaen resident and your child(ren) currently attends a Torfaen Nursery School you will receive a letter containing a UID (Unique Identification Number) which will allow you to apply on line by completing the Online Admission Form with effect from Monday 10th December 2018, with the exception of any Voluntary Aided Schools of which you will need to contact the school direct for the necessary admission forms.

If you do not wish to apply on line you can download a copy of the Primary School Admission Form here or by contacting Kath Worwood on 01495 766915.

If you are not a Torfaen resident you will be required to contact your Home Authority to seek advice on how to apply.

The closing date for September 2019 primary school admissions is Friday 25th January 2019, at midday (12pm).

If you wish for your child to attend a Voluntary Aided School, you will need to contact the school direct for the necessary admission arrangements.

Full details of the Authority’s Admission arrangements and related issues such as the provision of school transport can be found in the Parents / Carers Information Booklet.

Please note it is your responsibility to ensure an application is submitted by the closing date.
