School Admissions - Secondary School

Children normally transfer from primary to secondary school at the start of the school year in which their twelfth birthday falls (i.e. 1 September to 31 August inclusive).

If you are a Torfaen resident and your Year 6 child(ren) currently attends a Torfaen Primary School you will receive a letter containing a UID (Unique Identification Number) which will allow you to apply on line by completing the Online Admission Form with effect from Monday 1st October 2018.

If you do not wish to apply on line you can download a copy of the Secondary School Admission Form or by contacting Kath Worwood on 01495 766915.

If you are not a Torfaen resident you will be required to contact your Home Authority to seek advice on how to apply.

The closing date for September 2019 secondary school admissions is Friday 30th November 2018 at midday (12pm). You will be informed of the decision on Thursday 1st March 2019.

If however you wish for your child to attend a Voluntary Aided School, you will need to contact the school direct for the necessary admission arrangements.

Full details of the Authority’s Admission arrangements and related issues such as the provision of school transport can be found in the Parents / Carers Information Booklet.
