School Admissions - Secondary

Overview

There are four English medium, one Welsh medium and one faith-based schools within Torfaen managed by the council.

St. Albans RC High School is the regional Roman Catholic Secondary provision for Torfaen. Applications to St Alban’s RC High School (opens in new tab), should be made directly via their website.

Eligibility

Children normally transfer from primary to secondary school at the start of the school year in which their twelfth birthday falls (i.e. 1 September to 31 August inclusive).

Late 2027 admissions

The closing date for placements in September 2027 has now passed, however you can still submit a late application.

To make a late Secondary application for September 2027 please download and complete the Secondary School Admission Form and return it to school.admissions@torfaen.gov.uk (opens in new tab)
