What goes in the green wheelie bin?

The green wheelie bin is for all your green garden waste. A list of what can and cannot be placed in the bin is available below.

Yes Please

  • Garden Waste
  • Grass cuttings
  • Leaves
  • Hedge clippings & small twigs
  • Dead plants & flowers
  • Bedding from rabbits, guinea pigs, small herbivore pets

No Thank You

  • Food Waste (please use your brown caddy)
  • Soil
  • Rubble
  • Pet litter/animal waste
  • Large pieces of wood
  • Cardboard
  • Plastic bags
  • Japanese knotweed

We will not collect your green bin if it contains any of the rubbish listed above. Please remove the rubbish and put it into your purple lidded bin.

Winter collections

We no longer collect green waste from November through to March as we collect food waste weekly as part of the new brown caddy service. You can download a calendar showing you when your green waste service stops and resumes.

Where does the content of the Green Bin go?

Your garden waste will be taken to a composting facility. When has been broken down into compost it is used in agriculture.

What day will my bin be collected?

Use our mapping system to find your waste/recycling collection day.

You can find out what colour bin is due for collection this week by viewing the Calendar of Collections for your round.

Missed collections

If your bin was at the collection point by 7.00am on the day of collection however has not been emptied, please let us know immediately by completing the report a missed collection online form and we will make arrangements to collect it as soon as possible.
