Children and young people across Torfaen are being invited to put their creativity to the test by designing a new Torfaen Libraries card.
Torfaen Community Hubs and Libraries have launched the competition, calling on children aged 4–16 who live or attend school in Torfaen, to create original artwork inspired by the theme ‘What do Libraries mean to you?’.
The winner will receive a £50 National Book Token, with their design professionally printed as the official Torfaen Libraries card for members aged 16 and under.
Entries can be hand‑drawn or digital, using bold colours and simple designs that remain clear when resized. Artwork should be created on A4 landscape paper or card.
Designs can be handed in at any Torfaen library or emailed to cwmbran.library@torfaen.gov.uk
All entries must include the child’s name, age, school, and parent or carer contact details.
The closing date for submissions is Monday 22 June 2026, with judging taking place towards the end of June.
This latest competition follows the recent renaming of the service to Torfaen Community Hubs and Libraries, reflecting its expanded range of community services.
Neil Trembath, Library Manager at Torfaen Council, said:
“This is an exciting opportunity to be the creator of Torfaen’s first children’s library card. We are looking forward to seeing all the colourful, vibrant entries. There is incredible talent out there and we can’t wait to see everyone’s designs.
"Libraries continue to expand their role in supporting communities and our libraries are evolving into dynamic hubs where people explore, create and connect'.
Full competition details and terms and conditions are available at any Torfaen library.
