A selection of children having fun at the Play Service play sessions

More than 850 children have taken part in a week of Easter fun thanks to Torfaen Council's Play Service.

Over 100 playworkers and volunteers have provided nine play and wellbeing sessions for children and young people this week, as well as specialist play and respite sessions for around 85 children.

Arts and crafts, games, sports, swimming and talent shows are just some of the activities on offer at the play and wellbeing camps, which have been provided in partnership with local community councils.

Julian Davenne, Manager at Torfaen Play Service, said: “It’s been yet another fantastic week of play and it’s always amazing to see the engagement through our youth volunteering project.

“Seeing all the smiling faces of not only the children, but the staff as well makes it all worthwhile.”

The Torfaen Play Service sessions were held at: Cwmbran Stadium, Blaenavon Heritage VC Primary School, Blenheim Road Primary School, Garnteg Primary School, George Street Primary School, Nant Celyn Primary School, Glenside Community Centre, Greenmeadow & St Dials Community Centre, Victory Church.
