Greenmeadow Community Farm is celebrating free-range family fun as it announces a summer programme of events and activities.

Torfaen’s popular visitor destination will have weekly changing themes through the summer holidays, from Western and Circus to Festival themes with free and chargeable activities taking place each week for families to enjoy.

Jac Griffiths, Farm Manager at Greenmeadow Community Farm said: “We’ve shaped up a really exciting programme of events through the summer, with something for everyone. We’ve got everything from archery and axe throwing to circus tricks and falconry, as well as all the amazing opportunities to meet your favourite farm animals and indoor and outdoor Adventure Play.”

Since the destination opened last September, the farm has been increasing the number of animals and experiences for visitors. The farm offers a mix of fun activities, with indoor and outdoor Adventure Play, tractor rides and opportunities to get up close to animals, along with more in-depth farming experiences. Farmer for a Day gives children a behind-the-scenes go at popular farm tasks, and respect for the environment is a strong theme that runs through the site. There are free pond dipping sessions, Flower Power seed bomb making sessions, and the farm’s gardener has created a wildflower meadow to support pollinators.

This year the farm has welcomed two new Highland Cattle, named Blossom and Bracken, and developed walk-through rabbit and goat enclosures. Besides farm animals, Greenmeadow is home to three llamas, and a number of smaller reptiles, guinea pigs and rats that visitors can meet in Cuddler Corner.

For the summer holidays there’s a weekly-changing programme, from Western and Circus to Mythical Adventures. There’s a range of free, drop-in activities; falconry displays, circus skills and storytime, as well as bookable extras such as shows and animal encounters.
