New £637,000 facilities at a football club in Cwmbran have been officially opened, ahead of the start of the new season.
Coed Eva FC applied for funding from Cymru Football Foundation and the council last year for new changing rooms and dugouts at their home ground.
The club is now hoping to attract additional funding to improve the car park.
Paul Bielski, Chairman of Coed Eva FC, said: "Getting to this stage has been challenging but incredibly rewarding. We've already seen former players express an interest in returning after seeing the improvements, and there is real excitement about the club's future."
"We are extremely grateful to the Cymru Football Foundation, which provided 70 per cent of the funding required, and the council for providing additional financial support."
The investment, which has included funding from developer contributions paid to the council, has also included new drainage for the changing rooms and fencing.
The 46-year-old club has nine teams, around 150 members and 27 volunteers.
Councillor Mandy Owen, Executive Member for the Environment who officially opened the facilities last week, said: "By reinvesting developer contributions locally, we have been able to deliver modern facilities that will benefit current and future generations of players, volunteers and residents.
"As part of our Torfaen Deal approach, we are committed to working alongside community organisations to help them take an active role in managing and improving local assets.
"Coed Eva AFC is a great example of how clubs can support the long-term sustainability of community facilities while creating opportunities for people to be active, connect with others and take pride in their local area."
The official opening comes as a new Local Football Facility Plan for Torfaen has been published.
Developed by Continuum Sport & Leisure in partnership with the Football Association of Wales, Cymru Football Foundation, Torfaen Council, local football clubs and other key stakeholders, the plan sets out a long-term vision for football facilities across the borough.
The aim is to meet growing demand and improve the quality, accessibility and sustainability of existing facilities. For more information, click below.
