Get ready for the Mic Morris Torfaen 10K

Posted on: Friday 12 April 2024

Hundreds of runners are gearing up for this year’s Mic Morris Torfaen 10K.

The race is renowned for being one of the fastest in the running calendar with runners entering from far and wide.

Event organiser and Torfaen Sports Development Officer, Ben Jeffries, said, “Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just a beginner, don’t miss out on this great event!

“Lace up your running shoes, join us, and be part of one of the fastest 10K races on the planet.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary road closures. However, we hope the advance notice allows residents to find alternative routes and make alternative arrangements during this brief window of closure while runners cover the scenic route from Blaenavon to Pontypool Park.

“Information will be posted for residents living on the affected roads, and we’ll strive to reopen each section of the route as soon as possible. We appreciate the publics understanding and cooperation during this annual event.”

The downhill run, on Sunday 14 July starts at 9am in Blaenavon, with all runners expected to cross the finish line in Pontypool Park by 11am.

All participants receive a medal and a selection of merchandise for taking part in the event.

All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Mic Morris Memorial Sporting Trust Fund, directly benefiting aspiring young athletes in Torfaen.
