Torfaen Social Services is preparing to play Father Christmas again as plans for this year’s Santa Appeal get underway.
Running from 6 November to 4 December 2023, the appeal ensures every child and young adult supported by the service will receive a gift this Christmas.
Since it was launched in 2007, the appeal has supported thousands of children and young people across Torfaen – many of whom live in poverty or have no contact with their families.
Residents can donate gifts by getting in touch with the service where they will be given the age and gender of a child and a unique code which can be attached to the gift, which needs to be unwrapped.
Non-perishable food items can also be donated to make up hampers for young people aged 16 and over who are living alone.
Torfaen Council Executive Member for Children, Families and Education, Councillor Richard Clark, said: “We have been deeply moved by the generosity of the community and businesses in supporting our appeal. Your kindness has made it possible for the children and young people of Torfaen to experience the joy of the festive season.
“We sincerely thank you for your continued support and hope that you will join us once again in making this holiday season special for children and young people in need.”
Further details about donation drop off points and how you can get involved this year, will be shared within the next few weeks.
