A one-off £200 payment to help eligible households with fuel costs this winter has opened for applications.
Torfaen Council is working to identify eligible households and will be writing to them over the next two weeks to explain how the payments will be made.
It is anticipated that around 8,000 households will automatically receive the payment within the first week of the scheme opening.
If you believe you are eligible but do not receive a letter by 7 October 2022, you can apply online via the Torfaen Council website.
Applications need to be submitted before 5pm on Tuesday 28 February 2023.
The payment is in addition to the UK Government £400 Energy Bill rebate and the Winter Fuel Payment normally paid to pensioners.
It will be one payment per household regardless of whether you have a pre-payment meter, pay by direct debit or receive quarterly bills.
The payment can be claimed whether you use on or off-grid fuel.
Torfaen Council aim to make all payments within 30 days of receiving a valid application.
