Flood response

What we do

When a yellow weather warning is issued, crews inspect all high priority culverts and have staff on standby to response to any emergencies.

When an amber weather warning is issued, crews inspect high and medium priority culverts. Crews and emergency response teams are put on standby. If the weather warning is for strong winds, teams able to deal with fallen trees and branches are put on standby.

In the event of a red weather warning, all culverts and road gullies are inspected, and a range of teams including highways and Streetscene are put on standby.

We have a limited supply of sandbags for the protection of major roads only.

We work with social services to identify vulnerable residents, such as those who use dialysis machines.

If you need to be evacuated, you will be notified by the emergency services and moved to a place of safety.

What we can’t do

Provide property level flood protection, such as flood gates or sandbags.

Deal with sewerage flooding – please contact Dwr Cymru Welsh Water

We cannot work on private land without the permission of the landowner.
