Community flood networks
A community flood network is a voluntary group of people who work together to improve their local community’s resilience to flooding.
We’re piloting a community flood network with Ponthir Community Council and hope to work with other community groups in the future.

What can community flood networks do to reduce the risk of flooding, and support residents and businesses in the event of a flood?
- Educate residents and businesses about local flood risks and how to mitigate them
- Develop a local flood plan to co-ordinate responses
- Collaborate with local authorities, including the council, emergency services and Dwr Cymru Welsh Water
- Support homes and businesses in the event of a flood, especially vulnerable residents eg provide sandbags, help with the evacuation of properties, provide post flood support
