A scheme offering Torfaen residents the chance to access green home energy upgrades has reopened for applications.
Registration has opened for round two of a scheme that has already helped 36 households in Torfaen cut their energy bills and their carbon emissions by installing rooftop solar panels on their homes.
The ‘Switch Together’ solar scheme (previously known as ‘Solar Together’) harnesses the power of collective purchasing to allow residents access to high‑quality, affordable home solar installations.
In just over 6 months, the first round of switching resulted in:
- 36 households in Torfaen installing solar panels.
- 1,600 kilowatts of clean energy generating capacity installed.
- 0.25 megawatts of battery capacity installed.
- £271,439 of private investment into homes.
Councillor Mandy Owen, Executive Member for the Environment, said: “The ‘Switch Together’ solar scheme offers homeowners a simple, cost-effective route to installing solar panels and battery storage at home.
“Because the scheme uses local, fully vetted suppliers, their investment in future-proofing their homes is also helping support jobs and grow skills in our fast‑growing green economy.”
Registration via the ‘Switch Together’ website is free and without obligation. All installations through the scheme come with insurance backed guarantees.

The closing date for registration is Friday 27 March.
Delivered in partnership with Cardiff Capital Region and iChoosr, the ‘Switch Together’ scheme brings together households from across South-East Wales, using their bulk-buying power to drive down installation costs, with fully vetted installers competing in a reverse auction for installation contracts. The result is strong value for money, coupled with trusted recommendations and step‑by‑step guidance throughout the process.
