Members of the public are invited to attend a VE Day civic service taking place on Thursday, the 8th of May at 11am at St Gabriel’s Church, Cwmbran.
The Council is working closely with faith groups, veterans, schools and a variety of local organisations to host a service to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the end of the Second World War in Europe.
The service will provide an opportunity for the community to reflect with pride and respect at the remarkable generation of men and women who helped secure our peace and freedom.
The council are appealing for residents to share their own photos of VE day parties, family members who served in the war effort at home and abroad or photos of the borough during WWII that will pulled into a short film and played on VE day.
