We’re celebrating the power of community events to bring people together, foster civic pride and boost the local economy. Party in the Park, in Pontypool, attracts thousands of people every July.
This year's Party in the Park takes place in Pontypool Park on Saturday July 11.
The free event organised by Pontypool Community Council includes a parade, live music, activity zones and market stalls.
It will also host the next Torfaen Deal Village, following its successful launch at the Cwmbran Big Event earlier this month.
Located in the Upper Field, the vVillage will see community groups, third sector organisations and partners like Torfaen Voluntary Alliance and Halo Leisure join council teams to help bring the Torfaen Deal to life.
Visitors will be able to explore how the council is working differently with local organisations to improve people's lives and a full programme of activities, including:
- A volunteering lounge
- Community-run activities
- Health and wellbeing activities with Halo Leisure
- Information on housing and support for young people (16–25) through Keys to Independence
- Recycling and reuse activities, including a recycling truck
- A reuse shop run by Wastesavers (cash only)
- Fostering Q&A
- Torfaen Museum showcasing its Memory Café
Visitors can also complete a quick survey for the chance to win three months’ free Halo Leisure membership.
The Deal Village is about bringing people together, connecting residents with opportunities, support and each other.
After such a positive response at Cwmbran, everyone is excited to bring it to Pontypool and be part of this fantastic community event. Everyone is encouraged to come along, get involved and see what’s on offer.
The Deal Village is part of the Torfaen Deal, a new approach focused on working in partnership with communities to create positive change.
