A taskforce has been set up to help shape the future of Pontypool town centre.
The group was formed following two community ideas workshops earlier this year aimed at identifying ways to revitalise the town centre.
More than 100 people attended the events, organised by the council, during which it was agreed a taskforce would be formed to help drive community-led regeneration ideas.
The Pontypool Community Taskforce has since held three meetings and identified their first project - improving Riverside car park, near town bridge.
The group has organised volunteer clean-up days, as well as identify opportunities to upgrade lighting and CCTV.
Chairman and retired local businessman Dyl Delaney said: "We want to take the future of Pontypool town centre into our own hands by working with the local community to promote enterprise, strengthen local connections - underpinned by values of kindness, collaboration, and environmental responsibility."
Cllr Joanne Gauden, Executive Member for Economy, Skills and Regeneration, added: “The future of our town centres relies on a joint approach between local residents, businesses and public bodies like local authorities.
"This united approach will help to make Pontypool town centre a place that is an attractive location for sustainable high street businesses and brings communities together.”
The Community Ideas Events were run by Cwmpas, a co-operative development agency that helps people shape their own communities, and funded by a Welsh Government's Transforming Towns grant.
