Kidney cancer is the 13th most common cause of cancer death in the UK, with around 4,600 deaths every year, which equates to13 every day.

Kidney Cancer Awareness Week aims to raise awareness of the illness by encouraging patients, families, carers and friends to talk about it.

You can join the conversation on social media by searching for the hashtag #KCAW2022.

Residents can also sign up to attend a free Surgery and the recovery process’ webinar on the 9 February at 6pm, which also features a live Q&A session.

Torfaen Executive Member for Social Care and Housing, Councillor David Daniels, said : “If we make people aware of the symptoms, the ways to reduce the chances of getting kidney cancer through healthier living, then they may avoid contracting a disease they might never recover from.”
