Gwent Archives

Gwent Archives is the official archive for the five local authorities in the Gwent area. They are also recognised by the National Archives as a place of deposit for public records and by the Church in Wales for parochial records.

At Gwent Archives millions of documents are available dating from the twelfth century to the present day. Whatever subject, person or place you are interested in we can help you to discover an enormous amount from these documents.

It is free to visit to carry out research in person. They also have experienced staff who can help point you in the right direction.

Lectures, workshops and sessions for new users are regularly held and group visits can be arranged.

A paid search service is available for those who are unable to visit.
