Greenmeadow Community Farm

Greenmeadow Community Farm is a visitor destination in the heart of Cwmbran.

Open to the public year-round, the farm is home to more than 20 different species of native and rate breed animals with indoor and outdoor Adventure Play zones.

It’s the perfect family day out to explore the great outdoors, play and learn about animals, food and farming.

The council-owned farm underwent a major transformation, re-opening in September 2025 following a multi-million-pound project that included extensive renovations to buildings, the development of a new indoor Adventure Play barn and brand-new animal facilities.

In addition, the site received installation of a state-of-the-art ground source heat pump system, funded through a £1.56m grant from Welsh Government.

Meet the animals

Visitors to the farm can get up close with all their favourite furry friends, from native and rare breed sheep, cows and goats to alpacas and donkeys.

There’s small animal handling in Cuddle Corner, walking routes through animal enclosures, including chickens, rabbits and goats, and the Animal Barn.

Daily activities including animal feeding, milking demonstrations and grooming.

Adventure Play

The Indoor Adventure Play brings the adventure of the farmyard indoors, no matter what the weather brings.

The Indoor Adventure Play is full of farm-inspired hard play and hands-on games. Kids can climb, crawl and jump their way through tunnels, tractors and spring horses.

They can braid horses’ tails and spin wheels, all while under the watchful eye of parents enjoying a break in the adjoining café.

The Farmer’s Table Restaurant

The original farmhouse at Greenmeadow Community Farm dates back to 1752. As part of the revamp to the farm, a stunning oak conservatory was added to the building, taking the number of seats in the café to 90.

The Farmer’s Table restaurant is fully licenced and serves breakfast, lunch and snacks, focusing on menus filled with locally sourced produce.

The restaurant is open to the public, not just farm visitors, and well-behaved dogs are welcome on leads.

Accessibility

Improving accessibility has been an important part of the transformation of Greenmeadow.

Paths across the farm have been regraded and resurfaced, making more of the farm accessible to more people.

The site is dog friendly and there’s plenty of walking trails around the farm, for everyone to enjoy.

In addition to upgraded paths, the event space has been fitted with a lift and accessible toilets and hoist-equipped changing facilities have been added.
