Leasing Scheme Wales
The Welsh Government’s Leasing Scheme Wales aims to increase the amount of affordable, secure homes for private tenants.
Landlords can arrange to lease residential accommodation to their local authority through the scheme for between five and 20 years.
They will get a range of benefits, including guaranteed rent, grants of up to £5,000 to bring properties up to an agreed standard, and the Council will carry out general repairs and maintenance. Additional grant funding of up to £25,000 is available for empty properties subject to terms and conditions.
Properties will need to meet certain standards to be eligible for the scheme and our housing team can provide more information.

What you can expect from us
- We will identify potential tenants
- We will undertake the day-to day management of your property
- We will make rent payments during any period of inoccupation directly to the landlord
- We will regularly inspect properties, monitor tenant activity, and promptly deal with any issues, should they arise
- We will maintain your property throughout the term of lease (excluding any structural work)
- We will complete an inventory and at the end of the lease period – subject to any wear and tear – the property will be returned in the same condition
- You will receive regular communication regarding your property
- We will be responsible for any bills/utilities if the property becomes unoccupied
