Wellbeing Day (1)

Around 500 people attended Torfaen Council’s Community Wellbeing event on Thursday, enjoying a wide range of activities and practical advice designed to support healthier lifestyles.

The free event at Pontypool Active Living Centre was open to both the public and council staff, and aimed to promote physical, mental, financial and social well-being.

Visitors took part in on-the-spot health checks, including blood pressure monitoring and carbon monoxide testing, as well as learn practical anxiety management techniques from local health professionals.

The event also featured an exercise challenge, giving attendees the chance to compete for a free leisure pass provided by Halo Leisure.

Torfaen Council Leader, Cllr Anthony Hunt, who visited the event, said: “We’re delighted that so many people came along to the wellbeing event.

“Supporting healthy, active and resilient communities sits at the heart of the Torfaen Deal - our new social contract with residents. Events like this play an important role in connecting people with practical advice, health checks and local support, helping them feel more confident, independent and able to lead healthier lives.”

The council is planning further wellbeing initiatives throughout the year.
