Councillors and civic leaders gathered at Pontypool Civic Centre on Sunday for the local Proclamation of King Charles III.

The Proclamation was delivered billingually, introduced by Presiding Member Councillor Rosemarie Seabourne and read out by Leader of Torfaen Council Councillor Anthony Hunt.

It followed a number of special events around Wales to proclaim the new monarch and pay tribute to the Queen, who died on Thursday, including a regional ceremony at Newport City Council.

Members of the public were invited to watch the proclamation via the Council's webcasting service and Facebook Live. You can watch the proclamation back here.

Earlier in the day, flags outside Civic Centre were raised from half-mast to full-mast in recognition of the proclamation.

Following the proclamation, they were returned to half-mast and will remain at half-mast until after the Queen's funeral on Monday 19 September.

Books of Condolences are available for local residents to sign at Pontypool Civic Centre, Blaenavon World Heritage Centre and Cwmbran Library. Visit our website for details of opening times.

Anyone who wishes to leave flowers can do so at Pontypool Park memorial gates, opposite Civic Centre.
