A new drop-in hub for people who need advice about returning to work, finding a better job or increasing their skills will be available from next week.

The Employment and Skills Advice Pod, based in Cwmbran Library, will be free to anyone living in Torfaen looking to improve their employment prospects, skills or qualifications.

Advisors will also be able to help anyone who is struggling financially or who needs help with their health and wellbeing, as well as employment advice.

Angela Price, from Torfaen Council's Employability and Skills team who will run the pod, said: "The aim to make it as easy as possible for residents, who are struggling to find a job or improve their financial situation, to get advice as quickly as possible.

"We understand that looking for work, or changing careers, can be challenging, especially if you have been out of work for a long time, you need to update your skills, or you are experiencing financial hardship, but rest assured, our advisors will be there to provide residents with support and advice based on their individual situations. We hope the pod will become a vital community asset in the heart of Cwmbran.”

The pod will be available on the ground floor of Cwmbran Library from Monday 28 March. It will be open every day, between 9.30am and 4.30pm, except on Wednesdays when the library is closed.

Anyone who needs advice can just call in. No appointment is necessary.

The Employment and Skills Advice Pod has been set up by Torfaen Council’s Employability and Skills team and is a pilot funded by UK Government's Community Renewal Fund, as part of a regional project called CELT – Connect, Engage, Listen, Transform.

The project also includes plans for a Employment and Skills Advice Bus which, will offer support to people in Northville, Cwmbran, and Forgeside from next month.
