Posted on: Wednesday 29 June 2022

Party in the Park returns to Pontypool this year, featuring a fun fair, live performances, and Britain’s Got Talent’s Titan the Robot.

Around 3,000 people are expected to enjoy the event, on Saturday July 9, which will also include free activities like bungee running, a bungee trampoline, a human demolition zone and face painting.

The fun will kick off from 11am until 5pm, with children and staff from Osbourne Lodge Nursery taking part in a ‘Rainbow of Celebrations’ parade through the park from 11.45am.

Around 60 stalls will be pitched up on the day offering a range of crafts, food and support agencies.

Other entertainment will include:

  • A Dog Show – run by All Creatures Great and Small
  • Free arts and crafts provided by Torfaen Play Service
  • Free balloon and bubble artists, plus a magician
  • Fun and activities provided by Melin Homes
  • Torfaen Sports Development tennis and golf activities
  • Torfaen Leisure & Youth Services – various activities
  • Trends Band performing on The Main Stage from 3pm – 4pm

Free parking will be available at Pontypool Active Living Centre, with parking also available at the overflow car park on Trosnant Road, Civic Centre, Riverside and Rosemary Lane car parks.  Buses will be running normal services.

There are many active travel routes which lead into Pontypool Park and residents are being encouraged to use these in the first instance to reduce traffic through the town centre and surrounding areas.

Chairman of Pontypool Community Council, Councillor Matt Ford, said: “We are thrilled to see the return of Party in the Park after two years of cancellations.  The Community Council would like to thank all who have contributed towards making it a packed event, full of activities for all the family”.

Pontypool Party in the Park is organised and managed by Pontypool Community Council and supported by Mike Bendell, Health and Safety Officer.
