Do you want to learn a new skill that could save someone’s life?

Torfaen Council’s Adult Community Learning service is supporting the British Heart Foundations Re-Start a Heart Campaign, with the hope of teaching over 250 people how to restart the heart of someone who has suffered a cardiac arrest.

A series of workshops is being offered FREE of charge to local people aged 16+, as well as workplaces, schools, community groups and sports clubs.

Restart a Heart Day is held on 16 October, where thousands of people across the UK, and many more worldwide, come together to increase public awareness of cardiac arrests and the number of people trained in life saving CPR and defibrillator use.

Executive Member for Economy, Skills & Regeneration, Councillor Joanne Gauden said, “We know how important bystander action is in helping to save the life of someone in cardiac arrest. Studies show that using a defibrillator within three minutes of collapse, along with starting CPR, can greatly increase chances of survival.

“Learning CPR has never been more important. Having the essential CPR skills that could save a life, and the confidence to act quickly, are the simple skills that everyone can do if they take the time to learn them.”

Training courses start from 21 June 2022. To check available dates, please contact Torfaen Adult Community Learning on 01633 647647.
