Primary schools to get creative for competition

Posted on: Friday 8 April 2022

Torfaen Council is taking delivery of two new electric waste vehicles in May, and we want school children to name them.

The new trucks, which will collect purple lidded bins, will be the first fully electric waste vehicles in the borough.

To celebrate their arrival in May, two pupils will win the chance to name a truck and a Lego model and there will be a prize for their classmates.

Investing in electric waste vehicles is just one of the many ways the Council is aiming to become net carbon zero by 2030, and for the borough to be net carbon zero by 2050.

One winner will be chosen from two schools by a judging panel. The winners will also receive a goody bag and will get the chance to visit an interactive mobile classroom with their classmates.

Children can submit their entries via their primary schools. The judges will be looking for names that focus on the environmental benefits of the new vehicles.
