Office Closures

All public facing buildings will close at 5pm on Friday 28th August 2026 and re-open on Tuesday 1st September 2026.

The majority of things that can be done in our office can also be done online.

Torfaen Customer Care Centres

The Cwmbran Customer Care Centre will close at 4:30pm on Friday 28th August 2026 and will re-open at 9am on Thursday 3rd September 2026.

The Pontypool Customer Care Centre will close at 4:30pm on Wednesday 26th August 2026 and will re-open at 9am on Wednesday 2nd September 2026.

The Blaenavon Customer Care Centre will close at 4:30pm on Tuesday 25th August 2026 and will re-open at 9am on Tuesday 1st September 2026.

Refuse and Recycling Collections

There will be NO changes to collection days as we will be collecting waste and recycling as normal on bank holidays.

Please ensure that your waste and recycling is at the kerbside or collection point by 6am on the morning of your collection.

Household Recycling Centre

The Household Recycling Centre in New Inn will be open throughout the bank holiday period for the disposal of household waste.

  • Monday to Saturday - 8:00am to 5:45pm
  • Sunday - 9:00am to 5:.45pm

Make sure you have sorted your waste and recycling before turning up, and if you are a van or business make sure you have an up-to-date van permit.

The Steelhouse Reuse Shop

The Steelhouse Reuse Shop in New Inn will be open throughout the bank holiday period for the donation and purchase of good-quality items.

Times of opening are 9.30am - 4.30pm

Libraries

All libraries will be closed on Monday 31st August 2026

Cemeteries

All Torfaen cemeteries will remain open during the bank holiday period between 9:00am and 7:00pm.

Registration Service

The Torfaen Registrar’s office will close at 4:30pm on Friday 28th August and will re-open at 9.00am on Tuesday 1st September 2026.

Ceremonies

Ceremonies are by appointment only.

Out of Office Hours / Help in an emergency

If you need to contact the registration Service out of hours for any of the following reasons:

  • an urgent issue with a ceremony due to take place imminently
  • a religious faith funeral required within 24 hours
  • an urgent marriage or civil partnership (where one party is seriously ill and not expected to recover)
