The Chief Executive is Stephen Vickers.

Stephen has the following responsibilities:
- To provide leadership, vision and strategic direction to Council employees and to ensure that the Council is appropriately structured, managed and resourced to deliver its corporate priorities and objectives
- To model and promote the Council’s values of Fair, Supportive, Effective and Innovative
- To provide strategic level advice to Cabinet and Elected Members on the strategy, vision and performance of the Council, acting as the Council’s principal policy adviser
- To lead, develop and challenge the Council’s Leadership Team to ensure that the quality of the Council’s management and services are maintained, developed and customer-focused
- To act as an ambassador for the Council and our communities, representing their interests at all levels
- To develop productive and effective partnerships and relationships with external individuals and organisations at a local, regional and national level
- To act as the Council’s statutory Head of Paid Service
