Help2Own Plus

Help2Own Plus scheme enables people to access good quality affordable housing.  The scheme has been developed by Torfaen Council in partnership with local registered landlords (RSL).  The scheme is suitable for people in employment but are struggling to find a suitable property on the open market.

Help2Own Plus offers the below routes:

• Assisted Home Ownership – New Build Properties: you will be required to raise a mortgage for 70% of the value of the property with no rent payable.
• Assisted Home Ownership – DIY: applicants can purchase off the open market with the assistance of Welsh Government funding.  You will be required to raise a mortgage for 70% of the value of the property with no rent payable.  You will be notified as and when funding is secured.
• Shared Ownership – New Build Properties: This product will offer 50% mortgage and 50% rent.  Owners can purchase the remaining share of their home when they are able to do so.
• Renting: priced below open market rents.  You may need to access a deposit as well as one month’s rent up front.

Eligibility

To apply for the Help2Own scheme you must be:

• Aged 18 years or over
• Able to obtain a mortgage
• Struggling to purchase on the open market

You will need to cover the costs involved in purchasing a property (solicitor fees, removals, etc.) and up to £1000 to cover administration costs.
