Residential and Nursing Care

Giving up your own home and moving into a residential care home is a very big step for anyone to take. Like any important decision, it needs careful thought and you should not rush into it.

There are other options available to you, e.g. Independent Living (remaining at home with support) or moving to supported or sheltered accommodation.

After careful consideration, however, you and your family might decide that residential care is the best way to meet your care needs. It is important to choose a care home that will meet your physical, emotional and social needs, now and in the future, and that you feel comfortable living there.

All residential care homes offer personal care for people who are no longer able to live at home, even with support.

Nursing homes provide nursing care in addition to personal care and must have qualified nursing staff on duty at all times.
