Our Dietitian’s Choice

A deliciously warming homemade curry, gently spiced to appeal to a wide range of pupils while delivering plenty of nutritional goodness. Made with a blend of quality beef and Quorn mince, this hearty dish is naturally rich in protein and provides important nutrients, including iron and zinc, which support growth, wellbeing and concentration throughout the school day.

Our homemade sauce combines paprika, mild curry spices, onions, sweet apricots and colourful mixed peppers, adding depth of flavour while boosting the fruit and vegetable content. The result is a perfectly balanced dish that's both comforting and packed with goodness.

Served with our nutritious vegetable rice, made from a 50/50 blend of white and wholegrain rice and containing a full child-sized portion of mixed vegetables, this meal provides extra fibre as well as slow-release energy to help pupils stay fuelled and focused all afternoon. A side of sweetcorn adds even more vegetable goodness, while the naan bread and rice combination makes for a satisfying and filling meal.

Packed with protein, fibre, vegetables and essential nutrients, this colourful curry is a wholesome favourite that delivers both great taste and lasting energy.

Sustainable School Meals

UK Farm Assured Standards

The beef component of this dish is made using UK Red Tractor Assured beef mince. Red Tractor certification provides independently audited assurance standards covering animal welfare, food safety, traceability and environmental protection throughout the supply chain. By sourcing assured British beef, we are supporting UK farmers while providing confidence in the provenance and quality of the ingredients used in our school meals.

Lower Carbon Impact Recipe

Beef is recognised as a relatively greenhouse gas-intensive ingredient. To reduce the environmental impact of this dish, we have reformulated the recipe to include 40% Quorn mince alongside 60% beef mince. This adjustment retains the taste, texture and nutritional qualities of the recipe while reducing its overall greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 39% compared with a recipe made entirely with beef mince.

By incorporating lower-carbon ingredients where appropriate, we are taking practical steps to reduce the environmental footprint of our menus while continuing to provide nutritious and popular meals for pupils.
