Our Dietitian’s Choice
Fish is an important part of a healthy, balanced diet, providing high-quality protein as well as essential vitamins and minerals that support growth and development. That's why fish features regularly on our school menus, helping pupils enjoy and benefit from this nutritious food.
Our fish fingers and chips are oven baked on site rather than fried, helping to reduce the amount of fat and saturated fat in the meal while still delivering the taste children love. The meal is served with baked beans, which provide fibre and plant-based protein and are always selected from reduced sugar and reduced salt varieties.
A colourful serving of peas and sweetcorn or salad adds valuable vitamins, minerals and fibre, while helping pupils increase their vegetable intake and move closer to their 5-a-day target.
Combining protein, carbohydrates and vegetables, this popular meal provides the nutrients and energy pupils need to stay active, focused and ready to learn throughout the school day.
Sustainable School Meals
Sustainable Fishing
As part of our commitment to responsible and sustainable food procurement, these fish fingers are sourced from fisheries certified to the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standard. MSC certification helps ensure that fish stocks are harvested at sustainable levels and that fisheries are managed in a way that minimises environmental impacts and supports long-term marine ecosystem health.
By choosing MSC-certified fish, we are supporting independently verified sustainable fishing practices and helping to promote the availability of seafood for future generations. This allows pupils to enjoy a nutritious meal while supporting a more sustainable food system.
