Our Dietitian’s Choice

Our homemade cheesy broccoli & potato bake proves that plant-based dishes can be every bit as delicious, comforting and nutritious as their meat-based counterparts. Packed with tender potatoes and broccoli, this wholesome favourite is rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals, helping to support healthy growth and wellbeing.

A creamy cheese sauce adds a valuable source of protein and calcium to support strong bones and teeth, while a golden garlic crumb topping brings irresistible crunch and flavour to every bite. Made from scratch in our kitchens, this dish contains carefully selected ingredients and all the goodness of a homemade meal.

Served with oven-baked herby diced potatoes, providing slow-release energy to keep pupils fuelled throughout the afternoon, and accompanied by both freshly cooked broccoli and a colourful medley of roasted vegetables including peppers, courgettes, carrots, cherry tomatoes and onions, this meal is packed with vegetable goodness, fibre and flavour.

Colourful, comforting and bursting with nutrition, this delicious bake is a wholesome favourite that's sure to leave pupils satisfied and ready for the rest of the school day.

Sustainable school meals

Lower carbon impact choice

All our recipes have had their carbon footprints assessed using methodology developed by researchers at the University of Edinburgh. Based on this analysis, choosing this Pasta Bake instead of the Garlic Chicken option available on the same day results in a meal with more than five times lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Incorporating more plant-based meals into the diet is widely recognised as an effective way to reduce the environmental impact of food consumption. For pupils and families looking to make small, practical changes towards a more sustainable future, this dish offers a lower-carbon choice while still providing a tasty and nutritious lunch.

Supporting Welsh producers

The cheddar cheese used in this dish is produced in Wales, supporting Welsh farmers, businesses and employment within the regional food supply chain. Sourcing ingredients from local and regional suppliers contributes to shorter supply chains and reduced transport distances, while maintaining high standards of quality, freshness and traceability.
