There are seven specialist provisions in Torfaen.
A decision on whether your child meets the criteria for a specialist placement will be discussed with you by one of our educational psychologists.
Placements are decided on an annual basis, with places starting in September.
Pupils can be offered places during term-time in exceptional circumstances. Please speak to your school additional learning needs co-ordinator.

Out of county ALN provision
In a very small number of cases, some children are assessed as having severe and complex needs that cannot be met locally. In these cases, a specialist placement outside the authority will be sought. We will review these pupils progress to ensure it continues to meet their needs.
Transport to specialist provision
If a specialist placement has been agreed and transport is required, it will be provided by the council’s transport service, who will be in touch with you.
