Two weeks of foodie fun

Activities and events at the Torfaen Food Trail

Get your taste buds ready for the next Torfaen Food Trail!

Between Monday 3 and Friday 14th August, local businesses, farmers, and community groups will be holding a series of activities and events at different venues across the borough.

Building on the success of last year's first-ever Torfaen Food Trail, which welcomed more than 800 attendees, this year's event will offer even more opportunities to explore local food and drink, with new partners helping to expand the programme.

One of the new businesses taking part this year is Paint and Pause, based in Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre, which will be hosting an afternoon of creativity, conversation and mindfulness exploring memories, stories and traditions connected to food, family and wellbeing through art.

Owner Amy Rose said: "As a new local well-being business, I'm delighted to be part of this year's Torfaen Food Trail.

“Through Paint and Pause, we hope to encourage people to slow down, connect with others and explore how food, art and creativity can support wellbeing while celebrating the wealth of local produce and food traditions we have here in Torfaen."

Councillor Sue Morgan, Executive Member for Sustainability and Waste, said: “We're delighted to be bringing the programme back for a second year running and look forward to welcoming people of all ages to enjoy the wide variety of activities and experiences on offer.

“We would like to thank all food partnership members, local businesses, community organisations and delivery partners who have come together to make this year’s programme possible.”

The Food Trail events include:

  • “Yes we have no bananas!” - explore the history of rationing at Torfaen Museum in Pontypool, between 11am - 1pm and 1.30pm – 3.30, on Tuesday 4 August and Tuesday 11 August
  • Cheese please! - create your own chutneys and preserves before enjoying a tasting session with local cheesemakers at Cwmbran Community Council, from 2pm on Friday 7 August.
  • Savour Torfaen - a food trail tasting evening at Zero Waste Torfaen between 6pm-7pm, on Wednesday 5 and Wednesday 12 August.
