Over the next few months, the council's Highways Maintenance team will check and clear high-risk culverts and gullies, as part of its annual autumn maintenance programme.
Using specialist gully cleansing vehicles and road sweepers, crews will remove leaves and other debris that can restrict the flow of water through highway drainage systems.
Alongside routine maintenance, officers will monitor flood risk hot spots, inspect watercourses and flood management assets and work with partners, including Natural Resources Wales and Welsh Water.
Officers will also continue working with communities and partner organisations to strengthen flood resilience across the borough.
On Friday September 4, the new Ponthir Prepared Community Resilience Group will hold a public meeting at Ponthir Village Hall, between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, for residents interested in getting involved.
Councillor Mandy Owen, Executive Member for the Environment, said: "One in 15 properties in the borough is at risk of flooding - primarily due to flash floods caused by heavy rain, or river flooding.
"Our teams and partners play an important role in reducing the impact of flooding by ensuring our drainage infrastructure is working effectively.
"But local communities and homeowners can also help by taking steps to reduce the risk and impact of flooding.
"By working together, we can help strengthen resilience across our communities and be better prepared for the months ahead."

- Check guttering and drains are clear of any leaves or debris.
- Make sure your house insurance is valid or put house insurance in place.
- Monitor and report any blocked drains or gullies near your property.
- Consider buying sandbags or flood gates.
