Local couple open new café at Blaenavon World Heritage Centre

Ashleigh Yates and Slawek Brudecki in the Little Duck Café

A new family-run café has opened at Blaenavon World Heritage Centre offering residents and visitors a new culinary destination!.

The Little Duck Café, run by Ashleigh Yates and Slawek Brudecki, opened last week and offers a range of breakfast and lunch options, including Sunday dinners.

It's the first time the couple, who live in Blaenavon, have run their own business together, although Slawek has been a professional chef for 10 years.

Ashleigh said: "Opening The Little Duck Cafe is a dream come true for us. It’s something we’ve taken on together as a family, and we’re so excited to create a welcoming place where people can come together, enjoy good food and coffee, and feel at home.

The café's name also has a special family meaning. Our young daughter struggles to pronounce her surname, Brudecki, and instead says 'rubber ducky', which inspired The Little Duck Café."

It’s a big adventure and we’re looking forward to seeing where it takes us. Most of all, we hope the cafe becomes a special part of the local community."

Cllr Joanne Gauden, Executive Member for Economy, Skills and Regeneration, said: "It’s fantastic to see a local couple launching a new business at the World Heritage Centre. I wish the owners every success with their new venture.”

The cafe, which boasts breathtaking views of the World Heritage site, is open between 9.15am to 3.30pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and includes an open kitchen.

In addition to its main menu, they also serve a selection of hot drinks and sweet treats.
