More than 85 per cent of adult learners passed GCSE maths and English language this week.
A total of 56 learners sat GCSE qualifications through Torfaen Adult Community Learning this year - with 22 sitting their English GCSE and 34 taking maths.
Overall, 48 achieved a Grade D or above in both subjects.
Including Abigail Roberts, 21, from Pontypool, who said: "I think it's worth it. It's worth giving it a try. What helped me was that I started to enjoy it. It has changed my outlook, and I'm feeling hopeful."
Matthew Rickwood, 25, from Cwmbran, added: "The course was very hands-on, which I really enjoyed. I much prefer learning in a classroom rather than online, as it gave me the opportunity to ask questions and receive support whenever I needed it.
"It was a really positive experience, and I'm now looking forward to starting a sports journalism degree at university this September."
Cllr Joanne Gauden, Executive Member for Economy, Skills and Regeneration, said: “Congratulations to all our adult learners who passed GCSEs this week. It takes courage to go back to learning, so it is fantastic to see so many getting the grades they set out to achieve.
"Investing in your education has lots of benefits, from improving confidence to increasing job prospects. If you are considering signing up for a course you can be assured that Torfaen Adult Community Learning has the staff and resources to help you succeed."
More than 1,000 secondary school pupils in Torfaen also collected GCSEs this week.
The next GCSE English and maths courses start in September.
