Children attending a Food and Fun camp in Cwmbran got the chance to meet a special visitor this week.
The Welsh Government's Education Minister, Anna Brychan MS, visited a session at Blenheim Road Community Primary School to find out about the range of different activities and healthy food on offer.
She met with children, staff and volunteers, observed activities taking place across the site, and learned more about how the programme supports children's well-being, social development, physical activity, and access to nutritious meals during the school holidays.
The minister was joined by Cllr Richard Clark, the council's Executive Member for Children, Families and Education, and other Welsh Local Government Association officials.
Cllr Richard Clark said: "Once again I am astounded by the commitment from the volunteers and staff who dedicate themselves to such a fantastic scheme every summer. Torfaen are extremely proud of them all!"
Around 150 children are registered to attend the Food and Fun camp at Blenheim Road Community Primary School, which is one of 15 organised by Torfaen Play Service this year.
Staff and volunteers have also run three Moving On Up transition camps, 10 play and respite sessions, four open access play sessions and a sport and well-being camp at Cwmbran Stadium.
In total, 3,648 children have signed up to the different sessions, with around 220 volunteers helping to run the sessions.
