Around a third of UK carbon emissions are produced by homes.

Reducing your energy usage will reduce your carbon footprint and energy bills. Increasing the amount you recycle also contributes to reducing household emissions.

Grant Support

Several grants are available to help households install energy efficiency measures if they are in receipt of certain benefits, low income or relevant health conditions.

These include ECOFlex, the Great British Insulation Scheme and the Welsh Government Nest scheme. To find out if you may be eligible for support, contact the Energy Management Team.

Reducing energy at home

Our energy team can give advice on reducing your energy use and switching to renewable energy.

You can also get advice from Climate Action Wales (opens in new tab) and the Energy Saving Trust (opens in new tab)

For help with the cost of making your home more energy efficient, visit our cost of living energy support page.

Using less water – especially hot water – can also reduce emissions. For tips, visit Dwr Cymru Welsh Water (opens in new tab)

Switching to renewable energy

There is advice about heat pumps, solar panels and biomass boilers on the Climate Energy Wales (opens in new tab) website.

The Warm Home Nest scheme (opens in new tab) provides free advice on home energy improvements, including renewable energy.

The UK Government’s boiler upgrade scheme (opens in new tab) offers financial help towards upgrading gas boilers to a heat pump or biomass boiler.
