Residents are being asked to share their feedback on Blaenavon, Panteg, Cwmbran and Llwyncelyn cemeteries via a survey on the council's engagement and consultation website, Get Involved Torfaen.

Following an internal review and survey in 2024, a series of improvements were made to the council’s cemeteries service.

These included the installation of noticeboards in all cemeteries, improved advice and information available online.

It also led to the use of staff more flexibly across the council’s Environment Operations teams to respond to fluctuating demand more effectively and ensure good standards of grounds maintenance and continuity of service.

Information about cemetery policies has been updated on the council's website to make it clearer for residents, in line with one of the scrutiny committee's recommendations.

Meetings have also taken place with funeral directors and visitors, as part of a collaborative approach, in line with the Torfaen Deal, to explore opportunities to work together to improve dialogue and information sharing, and to enhance the overall cemeteries environment.

Councillor Mandy Owen, Executive Member for Environment, said: "We hope the changes we have introduced have improved the experience for people visiting our cemeteries.

We want to continue to listen to residents and take their feedback on board in line with our new Torfaen Deal, which aims to design and deliver services with communities.”

Share your views via the survey on getinvolved.torfaen.gov.uk from Monday 18 May until midnight on Sunday 14 June, 2026.

You can also attend one of the drop-in sessions:

  • Monday 1 June (10am-2pm) at Llwyncelyn & Cwmbran Cemetery, Llwyncelyn Drive, Cwmbran, NP44 7PF
  • Tuesday 2 June (10am-2pm) at Blaenavon Cemetery, Varteg Road, Blaenavon NP4 9DY
  • Wednesday 3 June (10am-2pm) at Panteg Cemetery, The Highway, Pontypool NP4 8HW

Each face-to-face session cover all of Torfaen's cemeteries, so you can attend any session to take part in the consultation.

Torfaen Council is committed to continual improvement and would welcome your feedback to help ensure the service continues to meet the needs of residents.
