Families will soon be able to access reusable nappy support thanks to new monthly drop in sessions.

Nappy libraries are being set up in Pontypool and Cwmbran to give parents and carers the chance to try, borrow and learn more about reusable nappies, which offer a cost‑effective and environmentally friendly alternative to disposable products.

Two nappy libraries are launching this week—one at the Eco Hub in Pontypool Indoor Market and the other at Cwmbran Library.

Sessions at Pontypool Indoor Market will run every second Wednesday of the month from 1pm to 2.30pm. Sessions at Cwmbran Library will run every second Friday of the month.

Bethan O’Sullivan, Nappy Library Project Coordinator, Wastesavers, said: “Nappy libraries are a really friendly, no‑pressure way for families to explore reusable nappies.

"People are often surprised by how modern, easy and affordable they are, and these sessions give them a chance to ask questions and see the options before committing.”

Cllr Sue Morgan, Executive Member for Sustainability and Waste, said: “These nappy library sessions are a great example of how small, practical changes can make a real difference.

"They help families save money while also reducing waste, and it’s fantastic to see this support available locally in both Pontypool and Cwmbran.”

The sessions are open to anyone who is expecting a baby, has young children, or is simply interested in reducing household waste and living more sustainably.

For more information about reusable nappies residents can visit the council website or you can follow The Nappy Library by Wastesavers on Facebook.

If you live in Torfaen and have qualifying children, you can apply for a £30 voucher towards a purchase of reusable nappies.

The voucher is for £30 per qualifying household per qualifying child.

These sessions form part of a wider effort to encourage reuse and reduce waste across Torfaen, helping residents make simple swaps that are better for both their wallets and the environment.
