The following schools have confirmed that they will be closed:
- Abersychan School
- Blaenavon Heritage VC Primary School
- Garnteg Primary

It is the head teacher's responsibility to notify the council about any school closures. If they have not notified us, the school will not appear on the list above.
Gritting update
All A and B roads, main bus routes, main distribution routes and routes close to schools, industrial and retail areas are prioritised. Other roads and council owned car parks are gritted in severe weather once the main routes are clear and as resources allow.
There are 820 salt bins located across the borough for residents to use on adopted footways and side roads in their local areas. Please use salt responsibly. A thin layer, spread evenly on surfaces that has been cleared of any snow first is usually all that is needed to be effective.

Clearing snow and ice from pavements
There's no law stopping you from clearing snow and ice on the pavement outside your home or from public spaces. The yellow grit bins are there for residents to use on local trouble spots – please use the salt sensibly, as a thin layer is usually all that is needed to be effective.
